I have a beautiful 12 year old daughter who could easily be a model. I think she is too young and should wait until she is at least 18. She already worries about her weight, hair, lip gloss and let us not forget all the homework pressure. Young girls have enough stress in their lives and do not need to be modeling.
Minors should only model clothes and other products right for their age group. If the item they’re modeliong is not going to be sold or markrted for their age they shouldn’t model it.
I saw the bit on the college student who was tasered at the John Kerry event, which I was only watching off and on while doing several other things. I did, however, manage to glance up when you showed the clip of him holding up a sign in traffic which read, “Harry Dies.” Thanks a heap! I am reading the book, and I have been trying to figure out who dies. I never thought I would have the ending ruined by the Today Show! Whoever allowed that short video image should have all of his endings ruined for the rest of his life! Talk about a killjoy!
I made my first comment and i couldnt leave without saying I miss Katie and her “whimseyness.” The ladies you have do a very good job but they just dont have that spontanaity. They’re too carefull of what sombody might think. In short the ladies are too ladylike. I dont expect a Katie clone but if they all sat down and studied Katie’s old shows they might add that little something thats now muissing.
It is so very sad that these very young girls are put into situations, like modeling, that they are not prepared to handle. 12 year olds are much to young for modeling.
I personally children should be allowed to grow up and experience each “normal” phase of their life. There are things that will be regreted later that they miss out on. TOO fast TOO soon can sure cause long term damage. They will get older soon enough. As someone that was married at the age of 17, I always resented missing out on a lot of the things that my age group shared. I say protect their youth, not exploit it. Save the children!!!
if i hav credit cards with no balance is there a reason any good reason to keep them? i am very responsible with my credit cards and use them sparinghly. thank you

Susie is right!!! Don’t co-sign for anyone, and don’t loan them money! It will ruin your credit like it did mine. I co-signed for a friend and loan them some money, I got a bad deal. I’m mad as h——-l.
I can’t do anything now. I had only one credit card to my name. You need at least one major credit card for emergencies. I can’t even get that now. I will never ever as long as I live, co-sign for anyone else. People pretend to be your friend and when there’s money involved you see where your true friends are. They’re paying the loan back now but my credit is ruin now.
i thoroughly enjoy the new segment with Hoda, Anne, and Natalie!
i believe a segment or perhaps a week designed around “everyday women” across the country would be very interesting. We all hear the news makers surrounding celebrities but what about those women who have had full lives and to whom young women could open up their minds to all the possibilites life has without striving for media fame and fortune. I am talking about the “in-between women”; those who are successful in their own right without a lot of glamour, tragedy or the newsy things that get young girls attention.
For instance take a look inside my life. I was the second of 5 children, suffered from anorexia and bulimia in 1968 when there were few known treatments, graduated from college, received a scholarship to grad school (gaduated!), worked for the CIA, became an aerobics instructor, entered the residential mortgage business, married a man 20 years my senior, divorced after 17 years of marriage and 21 years of friendship, am still friends with my ex-husband, remarried after 10 years (last December) to a widower with 2 children ( 12 and 14 ) whom i recently adopted. i have left a management position to work from home and be close to my new family. I never had my own kids so at 52, my life has done a complete turn around and i am more “content” than ever.
There are so many women who were not born into wealth, are not model material, have failed marriages but somehow have woven very fulfilling lives and have interesting stories to share and possibly lessons for young women to take with them.
I am a mom of a 6 year old girl and boy I have to say no way talk about a gateway for sick people. I thank at 12 they need to`be thanking about friends and good grades and need to be kids when they can. And injoy it. I thank 12 is way to young.
I absolutely feel 13 is too young to be modeling. Our kids are already inundated with mature images and content everyday. Adult content is shoved down their throats every day on the internet, TV, and in magazines. I think we should protect our kids and let them be kids. Why rush it?
I think 12 anf 13 year olds are too young to be modeling adult clothing. Kids clothes in print maybe but not anything else. The girls need a life away from the runway so they can be girls/young ladies before they start working. There are too many severe problems in the industry that need to be dealth with before innocent girls and boys are thrown into the public eye. Education at these young ages is more important that making money. A high school diploma and 12 college credits need to be required before someone becomes a model.
I think 12-17/18 is way to young! Sure they might have the body that the industry is looking for, which I have issues with, yet emotionally or mentally they have no way to cope with things that would be put before them. Shame on her mom and dad! The loved ones who are to protect and give care over their daughter. What are they thinking?
I think a 12 - 17/18 year old is to young to be a runway model. Maybe their body is what the industry wants, (which is a whole other subject) but they are not ready emotionally or mentally for the events that will be put before them.
Shame on her parents! What happened to protecting and watching out for your kids well being. I’m sure they must think they are, but think again!
I think that middle school age girls and boys are way too young to be modeling. The children need to be in school , having fun with their friends and families and enjoying life. They ae too immature to be out in the modeling field. There are too many ugly issues like drugs, alcohol. sexual predators, etc that our kids do not need to be exposed to at this immature age. The parents who are money and power hungry are to blame for the exploitition of young children.
Suzie, HELP!! I committed sin number one by letting my girls use me as sosigner for their student loans to the tune of 50,000.!!!! (I am embarassed because I am in the mortgage biz, therefore should know better!!!
OK, Do I cash out CD’s (yes my savings-retirement monies)

HELP
I will go and sin no more..
suzzy orman, I have a 93 year old mother who is running low on funds . I do not want to put her in a nursing home so I am thinking about doing a reverse mortgage with her property. Doing this, I can keep her home with caregivers. What positives and negatives do you see? Thank You. mcginley81@aol.com
suzzie, I have invested all my retirement money into stocks and bonds. I have no savings and get 1000.00 amonth social security. My husband still works and makes approximately 45,000. a year. Our home is paid and we have no care payments, but I do lhave approx. 30,000 in other debt.
Interest rate approx. 8% highest on 16,000.00. Other accounts 6.5%. What do you think about my financial situation? I am 64 years old. Thank you.
suzzy orman, I need help with my budget. I am 40 and married with 2 children. We own our small buisness,20 years now and we just cant get ahead. I have so many questions I dont know what to ask first. We have some money saved, but Im not sure what to do with it. what should I pay off first.
My husband and I just built our house about a year ago. We took out a questionalbe mortgage and are having difficulty paying the 30 year mortgage pmt. We have been making the min amount and because of this we are adding about a 1000.00 per month to our mortgage. We have a lot of equity-about $125,000. Should we ride this out and continue to make the lower pmt b/c we have a lot of equity? Or should we sell and build another and put more down? We are in a good market, but we just moved in and we have two small children. Should we wait or sell now?
Suzzy Orman, I have a 401K that I need to move or rollover because I no longer work at that job and because of disabilities I can’t work so will not be adding to the 401k.
Plus, I have some money that I want to put in a place to earn more interest but still be able to get at that money if I need it. Where do I put it?
There is a pub in Portland known for the Best Reuben Sand in the country. It was owned by Bud Clark who is still looked upon as Mayor. He was Mayor of Portland and he at one time posed with his overcoat open to a Sculpture of a Woman and it became a postor titled Expose Yourself to Art. You can find the postor on Ebay. Mayor Bud was very famous as a mayor as he was known to wear bib overhalls and had a beard. He was the true peoples mayor and I believe the Today Show did a story on him at one time. His Goose Hallow Inn is still owned by the family and the mayor a short time ago had a 40th birthday for the pub. The Ruebun served there looks much better than the one you had on your show. I have eaten where your winner was in New York and the one at the Goose by far is better. You can find Mayor Bud if you google his name or the Goose Hallow Inn on the net. This would make a great story as he is loved by all in Portland. There is a movement to name a new Park in the Pearl Dist. after him to be called Clark Park.

When will you do your homework about encouraging people to buy these glorified mutts that keep the puppy mill industry in thriving business. No one of good reputation & operating as a conscientious breeder of healthy, sound purebred dogs would consider breeding these mutts simply to flood the market, pet stores( aka puppy mill outlets) & the internet. One generation of cross breeding does not make a healthy designer puppy.Contact the Pug Club Of America to see the damage you did by encouraging the purchase of Puggles. They aren’t what they are reported to be as you never know what part of the genetics dominates. Why don’t you stick to interviews with breeders of quality dogs so that people can see what goes into a well bred dog(the AKC is your neighbor-they’d be happy to help),spot light the horrible conditions of puppy mills that supply the pet stores across the country and everytime you buy a puppy in a pet store, more are being bred to take it’s place. Take a trip out to PA amish country and visit the puppy farms-show how awful conditions are where these pet store puppies are raised. Encourage people to adopt from shelters, spay& neuter their existing pets, and don’t spontaneously buy a puppy from a pet store.
I love your program, but every time you do a ill researched spot like this, you make my blood boil. The vet lady may be pretty & showy for broadcast-but she’s obviously not really aware of the gospel she’s preaching.Or maybe she’s milling puppies too.
Thank you in advance for allowing me to rant.

The debate about a child who models for pay should not be an issue in the United States, should it? There are child labor laws that should apply to ALL children, regardless of their parents.
I have bad credit from a car repo back in 2003, and have been fighting for years to recover from this, is there any advise you can give me to move the repair process along? I would like to buy a home in the near future.
I wish you were able to give more time to your chefs. It’s frustrating notbeing able to see the entire segment, toomany interuptions.
Give them a few more minutes.
Thank you
officers take the law into their own hands/know I believe the objective is if the one getting arrested is putting the officer in danger the officer may use extensive force, write there on film there were at least four officers on the young adult. How may I ask what officer was put in danger, especially when the detainie was verbally giving up, when in plain veiw there was no harm going to take place. the young adult was expressing his self (probably being more agrssive then he should of been displaying himself) I see no harm in this. The officer should be put on leave without/ without pay!
I have many great memories of my grandparents. I spent many summers with them. my grandmother instilled in me the value of hard work and morals. grandpa would make his famous lemonade. Even tho it was just lemon juice and sugar it was the best because he made it.Both are gone now but I will always have the memories. cindy in michigan
Ann, if you ask someone, i.e. Starr Jones, on to talk about the new OJ saga, ask your question, but then shhhhh- let her answer- you interrupted her so bad today-shame! It is very hard for your audience to understand the conversation when you talk on top of the person. Matt- shame on you too! A couple of weeks ago you tried your darndest to incite a “Jerry Springer’ type fight with two people you were interviewing. I believe that you should NOT use a morning show to have guest and try to get them to yell and shout and overtalk each other. We need to start our days in some manner of calmness. Today show has gotten biased in that it is now more your opinions instead of just reporting a story. Save the drama for the evening newpeople getting dressed and having breakfast dont need unsettled stomachs. P.S. going until 11am is like TMI -boring- Someone asked in another comment where was Meradith. I say, who cares, She is crass and gruff and she interviews terribly. Like she is waiting till she can push a “button” and get someone to say, wow, that was a great interview- look at the scoop you got- and on the morning news! Don’t miss Katie- she got to big for her britches. AND FINALLY - I am a Realtor and a lot of us in this profession firmly believe if folks like you would QUIT only reporting the BAD BAD market, say something positive - things would greatly improve. You aint Greenspan, but people hear what you say and I think you make things worse than they really are!
We at our home have always enjoyed the Today Show Merdith is such a joy to watch,as well as Matt, and the Lovely Ann.Are you all tring to get rid of views like us?We like our news in 2 hours not all morning long .Are you all wanting to be like the View.. not a chance. With all those ladies around
the table.
The weekend Today Show lost Cambell Brown.. FINALLY !
We have enjoyed Lester Holt he is the Best all around. What a gentleman. And Where did you all get the woman that repleced Cambell? She is VERY cold And she thinks she is so smart and cute,NOT .It appears that everything is beneath her. That she is better than most. What a SHAME…..
I am trying to find out the name of a book discussed in an interview
LAST WEEK (Sept. 10 thru Sept 14). I only saw a tiny bit of the interview
so don’t know the author or name of the book….all I know is it was a new
book about celebrities over 80 years old, or thereabouts, who were
pursuing challenges and living productive lives, outside of their past
celebrity. Can anyone help me identify this book so I can purchase it
for my elderly mother? She would love it. Thanks much, Cherlyn
As a previous New Yorker, my only current contact is your show, which I enjoy. Everyone on the show is delightful. I was hoping you could help me solve a problem……. I need to find my class mates from 1968. I graduated from Newfield High School in Selden. It is on Long Island and I offered (kind of) to try and get this off the ground. Could you possibly make an anouncement that we are looking for graduates of the class of ‘68 and would like to plan something for summer of 2008. This is our 40 year re-union and it amazes me that these years have slipped by. By the way, my maiden name was Gyulay. Thank you sooooo much for your time, it is greatly apprectiated. Joan Manias
I also come from a family of 17 children. I have followed this family for a couple of years, while building the home and having the last couple of children. My question is: Where does the money come from to build, furnish and stock the home???
I was the oldest in my family and it was always a big job for our parents to keep food on the table and pay the light bill.
We now all are grown with families of our own. We live with in a 25 mile radius of the small southern MN town where we were raised. We had loving Christian parents and the Lord sent many blessing to us.
Can someone , anyone pleeeeeeze get Ann Curry to STOP TALKING WHEN OTHERS ARE TALKING …………FIRST SHE ASKS THE QUESTION THEN SHE GIVES THE ANSWER …….IT IS QUITE UNBEARABLE !!!! It has become a absolute turn off to watching the show ! She looks lovely , she does fine with her traveling broadcasts and perspectives BUT HER ONE ON ONE INTERVIEWS …..TRULY AWFUL . THANK YOU
the family with 17 kids and all are homeschooled how do u do it? I am homeschooling my youngest daughter after she developed a seizure disorder and we believed God was telling us to remove her from the public school system being that her seizures are not yet controlled . Can u offer advice on how to make her day with mon more interesting as well as how to help her with her learning difference? WE believe that God has chosen such a time as this for us to pour more of Him into her!! God bless u all

RE: The Duggar Family. God wanted the Earth replenished after the Flood, but I don’t think he wanted this family to do it by themselves !!!! Who buys all the food, clothing, etc., that this group requires??? I am sure that this father cannot support them on his salary alone. Also, I wonder if they have ever thought of what would happen to all these kids if something were to happen to them !! Who is going to pay for college for these kids. Mom may home school now, but “COLLEGE CANNOT BE HOME SCHOOLED” !!!!! If I were so stupid to have so many kids, I certainly would not want the whole world to know, unless I thought that the publicity would help me to support them, and I think that is one thing that is happening.
I have watched several programs about the Duggars. Somehow I have missed what this dad does to buy all of these groceries and washing machines. All of this is too wonderful, but let’ get real here. Thanks
Hi, I just wanted to comment on the Duggar family and how anyone watching should be inspired on how to raise a family of 17 children or two children for that matter with the word of the Lord at your side and used in daily life. This couple, Jim and Michelle are a wonderful example to their children and to their community on how human beings should really live their life, which is with respect and kindness. I wish the whole world would follow these simple steps and we would all live in a much safer, happier place. Thank you!!!
We have seen this family several times on TV however have never heard anyone ask what Jim Bob does for a living to afford so many children Does he own a company and if so what? Just to feed this many and the airfare had to be out of site, how does he do it?
I am a retired person that follows the Today show religiously. I am also a member of the American GI Forum, a national veterans family organization. Last Friday you had Mr. Ken Burns on your show and I watched the segment with great interest. Within the interview Mr. Burns stated that portions of his film “The War†were shown to a veterans gathering and that they were for the most part pleased.
I would like to set the record straight where Hispanics and the American GI Forum national conference, held in Oklahoma City, are concerned. I was present at the National Conference of the American GI Forum where clips of the Burns film including the add-ons with two Hispanics were previewed. I can tell you that the membership was not for the most part pleased. A great deal of time was spent on the ensuing debate where members questioned the manner and extent of the, so-called, agreement with PBS and/or Mr. Burns. Lynn Novick, Mr. Burns’ associate was present, you can ask her to corroborate what transpired at that gathering of Hispanic veterans.
My question to you now Matt is, when can we expect to see Dr. Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez, the Professor from the University of Texas and lead in the Defend The Honor Campaign, on the Today show to articulate the Hispanic side of this story? This coming week will be good, I think, as the film hits the airwaves. Also, this Sunday, you will note how displeased Hispanics are with Mr. Burns’ film and his omission of Hispanics where protests will be registered in many cities across the country. 500,000 Hispanics participated in WWII and the exclusion of their voice within the body of this so called “Documentary†affects us all.
Send Meredith back to the View, Who dresses her and who cares about her kids. You don’t hear Matt or Ann going on about theirs. She needs to put some color in her wardrobe. Ann always looks good. At least I get to work on time now because I’m not taking time to watch entire show. Know when local news is coming on and take 5 then. Show is lacking since Katie left. Too much side comments between Matt, Meredith and Al.
Extended show is overkill.
I think the Duggars’ 15 minutes of fame is over. So they have 17 children–they get by with donations they get from others. There is a family in Sacramento who has 18. Give it a rest.
I noticed Lori David and another woman on last Wednesday discussing a book for children about the environment. They were both wearing the same necklace. They looked really great and I wondered what they were and what they symbolized. Does anyone know?
I saw your program on Sept. 21st on the Duggar family. I think these two people are utterly disgusting & brain dead too. Have these people ever heard of overpopulation, global warming, polution, enviromental issues? Do these people ever listen to the news , read a newspaper or magazine and are they aware of these issues? Have they ever driven in rush hour traffic, are they even aware of whats’s going on around them? In my opinion these two should both be sterilized not glamorized. I’m sick of people using God and religion as an excuse for their insane ideas. I’m sure that God never intended for us to breed ourselves out of existance. That’s why he gave us birth control. If eveyone thought the way they do we would have bred ourselves out of existence along time ago. we only have so much room on this earth and so many natural resourses. We all have to share what there is. These people need to wake up and stop thinking about just themselves. Shame on you for glamorizing these people.
I so enjoyed the Duggar family. What an inspiration to folks today. I am a mom of three, grandmom of 9 and great grandmom of two. I watch my children struggle with finances and know the answer is to follow God, Jesus the Christ and cut back on so called “neccesities”, such as tvs, cell phones etc. My goodness, how did we ever live without them? The other thing to do is increase income. Pray tell, what do the Duggars do fo a living?? Thank God for the children, our future consumers, to give people jobs thru their purchases.
I couldn’t understand some parts of this article Y Show, Week of September 17,18,19,20,21, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
I am located overseas (South Korea). I couldn’t wait to go home after work so that I can watch Today on my AFN. But lately, especially tonight 18 Sep 08, I noticed that your method of questioning or comments regard.ing Sarah Palin has become very boring and unintelligent. For several days or weeks, you care more about whether she was in Iraq or not, or whether 20% of energy comes from Alaska. Who cares. As far as I know there is not one honest politician. I thought that Mr. Lauer and Ms. Vieira were very exciting to watch. I changed my mind and I am sure that more people like me are feeling the same way. After hearing Ms. Viera repeatedly forcing the issues of Ms Palin being in Iraq or not or whether Ms Palin was correct about the statistics she mentions about Alaska’s energy, I have had enough. Never again will I watch your show. I hope your show will continue to receive low ratings. I am a registered democrat, but now I am voting Republic because of pinheads like Lauer and Vieira.
I have really enjoyed watching the Today Show for many years, it had become part of my daily routine.Today’s show was almost unbearable to watch as was the show yesterday.Cathy Lee was extremely overbearing. I must say since Cathy Lee has joined the show I enjoy it must less & now find myself changing channels. Cathy Lee is constantly finishing Hoda’s sentences, cutting her short or making faces when Hoda does get a complete sentence in. Also, someone needs to remind Cathy Lee that when interviewing a guest in would be nice to hear what they have to say. Isn’t that the point of the interview? What a difference between Hoda & Cathy Lee. Hoda is beautiful, respectful & gracious. Cathy Lee shows no respect for anyone & I find her rude & offensive. Cathy Lee lose the cheer leader attitude it doesn’t become a woman of your age.

What are they thinking?
on Sep 18th, 2007 at 3:15 pm
I think a 12 - 17/18 year old is to young to be a runway model. Maybe their body is what the industry wants, (which is a whole other subject) but they are not ready emotionally or mentally for the events that will be put before them.
Shame on her parents! What happened to protecting and watching out for your kids well being. I’m sure they must think they are, but think again!
on Sep 18th, 2007 at 3:21 pm
I think that middle school age girls and boys are way too young to be modeling. The children need to be in school , having fun with their friends and families and enjoying life. They ae too immature to be out in the modeling field. There are too many ugly issues like drugs, alcohol. sexual predators, etc that our kids do not need to be exposed to at this immature age. The parents who are money and power hungry are to blame for the exploitition of young children.

Suzie,
My husband and I just built our house about a year ago.
Thanks

There are child labor laws that should apply to ALL children, regardless of their parents.

officers take the law into their own hands/know I believe the objective is if the one getting arrested is putting the officer in danger the officer may use extensive force, write there on film there were at least four officers on the young adult.

Matt Lauer
Today Show
NBC
Dear Matt,
I am a retired person that follows the Today show religiously.
Sincerely
Lupe Aguilar

Dear Today Folks,
I so enjoyed the Duggar family.
