Why is Columbus Day being celebrated on 10/8 instead of Columbus Day October 12???

If anyone got the ingredients for the Columbus Day recipes (Scottos Columbus Day Feast ) please email me as I could not break away and write down the recipes and they looked marvelous. thanks so much, bon

Why do you state that you can go to the Today Show.com for today’s recipes from the Scottos, when in fact it is not available

WOULD YOU STICK YOUR HEAD
IN A MICROWAVE OVEN?
EXPERT DISCUSSES CONTROVERSY
OVER CELL PHONE SAFETY.
Today there are an estimated 3 billion cell phones in the world. In Europe 80% of the population uses them, compared to 60% in the US. The US. Market is growing quickly especially among teens and children who are at the greatest risk. . All this points to one fact: cell phones are BIG business. Even though the health risks from radiation are being reported and the evidence is mounting, the industry giants continue to claim their products are safe.
Shelly Kalnitsky, an authority on cell phone issues wants to ask you three questions.
1. Do you now believe nicotine is non-addictive?
2. Do you now believe that cigarette smoking does not cause lung cancer?
3. Do the words “radiation†and “microwaves†sound like something you want going into your brain?
“The jury is still out on the extent of the long term effects of cell phones†says Kalnitsky “but we are discovering more evidence of cell phone dangers.†He points to an independent reporting site http://www.cprnews.com which documents hundreds of articles , studies and research on cell phone dangers under world news.
He discusses :
• How the industry suppresses negative stories.
• The increased risks cell phones pose to teens and children.
• Why current hands free kits are more dangerous.
• New products that can reduce the risk.
• Safety tips in cell phone usage.
Kalnitsky is an expert on the subject and can add insight on recent scientific findings as well as discuss protection devices such as shields, new hands free radiation free kits and safety tips that can offer a remedy for cell phone users.

The segment on separate sleeping was annoying! Thank goodness Hoda kept trying to make the point about how horrible it is to try and sleep with a snorer. The woman kept saying it’s fixable - Please- nosestrips? Then she says just get surgery! Snorers do not have any incentive to do anything about it because it doesn’t affect their sleep. I think it is crazy to put up with getting no sleep and feeling so frustrated that the person won’t stop. I have a separate room, sleep wonderfully, have a great marriage and an excellent sex life - for 30 years!

On Oct. 11, the “woman ” who was thrown out of the ladies room for looking and dressing like a man, in my opinion should have been thrown out! If she is dressing the “part” she should expect to get treated that way….That case should not have even been made public, it’s rediculous, if she was so upset by the whole experience my advice to her would be “if you want to be treated like a woman, dress like one”.

? for Dr. Snyderman. I’m 38 yrs. old and have had severe reactions in past to pneumonia vax, tetaus vax, and DTP vax. I’m too afraid to get the flu vax. Any advice? Also, I have an 11 yr. old, and a 7 yr. old– should they get the vax? Thank you.

Question for Dr. Snyderman. I am 59 years old and have a rare condition called “copper deficiency”, which has left me numb from my toes to my rib cage. I am the 51st case ever diagnosed by Mayo Clinic. Why should I not be able to take a flu shot? I had taken them for 5 years prior to being diagnosed with this condition. Thanks so much.
on Oct 11th, 2007 at 12:20 pm
Responding to what was said about flu shots. I read an article that stated that as few as three flu vaccinations can increase your risk of Alzheimer’s by ten times. Very few doctors realize how much mercury and aluminum are in the new breed of vaccinations–a hidden cause of Alzheimer’s. I am now taking pills for memory loss. Why are there so many people with Alzheimer’s ? Could flu shots be the cause? I have decided not to get the shot this year. I never had the flu before I started getting the shots, so why get them?

This is the worst website I have ever tried to find something! I would like to see more on the story of the boy from Great Britian with “EE”. He was allergic to everything. Please post. My daughter has the same disease. I don’t even see the Recall list for the children’s medications. Am I going to the wrong website? Please help!
on Oct 11th, 2007 at 1:17 pm
Dear Dr. Snyderman- I am on a VERY tight budget having been quite ill last year. I’ve pretty much regained my health but I still don’t consider to have regained my formal level of fitness and am seeking employment. I’m not on any form of assistance but I really can’t afford $30 for the flu shot and BC/BS won’t pay for it. I can’t believe it gets thrown away! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
on Oct 11th, 2007 at 2:26 pm
I also would like more info on the boy from great britain with EE. What is the actual name for this condition? Our daughter had severe allergies to many, many foods as a child and failure to thrive as a result. She was given a nightly naso-gastric tube with a supplement for 18 months.(we or she inserted it nightly and removed it in the morning) It did the trick - she is now a grown woman, with much improved health. Her allergies lessened over the years, but there are still some asthma and gastro problems. 30 years ago when we started down this road there was no name for this condition. I really would like to know where to get more information. It might help her now.

A question about the Flu shot for the Dr that was interviewed this am. What about the reports ( George Washington U and some leading immunonologists) hat say that the Mercury in the Flu shot contributes to Alzeimers in seniors?
And where can you get a preservative and mercury free shot?

And as time goes by, some books become valuable…. as long as they have the original D.J., so if you follow her advise you are throwing your money away.

Comment about the handwashing segment on 10/11. I was disappointed with such a brief segment. I am a daily Today Show viewer and I am completely taken aback when the food segments are presented and not once does anyone wash their hands……wiping your grime on a hand towel is not a substitute for handwashing. Don’t most people learn by watching what others do? Martha Stewart is among those who could definetly use a brush up on handwashing as well, since she is an avid griming towel user!!!!

just watched the wash your hands properly segment 10/11/o7. The reporter in the demonstration has to find a better way ! He wasted so much water while soaping his hands!

In July 1978 I had a daughter named Crissy Joy Elmore at just about two weeks old was real sick. After test after test, she was diagnoised with a disease,I may spell it wrong but it was pronounced Propreoticacidemia. She was totally allergic to protein. At the time her doctor,Dr Rathburn at the Charlotte, Carolina Med. Center said there was only one other child in this country that had this disease, but he wasn’t as bad as Crissy’s,he could tolerate some protein. She was a research baby.Rathburn had already told us if she got sick like colds or flu,she would have problems fighting off viruses on her own,but could take medications to fight infections. In March 1980,we lost Crissy due to pneumonia. If anyone needs to hear more about and how to deal with my experances, feel free to call at 794 276-3829. Thank you. Larrry

ALLERGIC TO EVERYTHING*******************My 3 year old son has eosinophilic esophagitis and can only have water and splenda, other than his neocate formula that goes in his gastric tube. It is a life changing disease for everyone. It is more common than you realize. The stats are 1 in 10,000. Unfortunately, you failed to mention organizations and hospitals that deal with this in the states. You didn’t provide much needed information about support groups, either.

I have just watched Mr & Mrs Wood on your show WOW what a team. Its times like this you just wish you could wave a magic wand and this terrible disease would disappear. I lost my MUM to cancer 6 years ago we nursed her at home and I could not believe the inner strength some people find in these hard times. My MUM was my hero and life never is the same she is missed terribly. Keep positive Mrs Wood and keep up all the good work you are doing you are an inspiration to all

I really wish that you would do a segment on ovarian cancer. Many women are being diagnosed with this disease but too late. We need to be informed on how we can protect ourselves with a recommended checkup. From what I know you can’t just have a normal pelvic exam. I was a bit disappointed with the segment on womens health when the gyno Doc didn’t speak up on ovarian cancer, just breast, colon, etc. My mother passed away from this horrible disease on February 14th, 2004. She lived with cancer since November of 1998 when she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Please help millions of women!!! This subject cannot be ignored. Thank you!!

This goes out to Ann, I was proud to know that you pray. I was very disappointed in Meredith and her attitude toward you about prayer. People like Meredith need to find God and to learn to pray, he will be the one who saves her and not Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit.
God Bless you!

I am sorry that I missed your segment on the boy who is allergic to many things. I just caught the segment when he was in the nintendo store. I have a son who also has multiple food allergies and he can only eat 12 things. He also has other conditions linked to this problem. He has Ketotic hypoglycemia and acid reflux. I was wondering if the other boy had similar problems linked to his condition. I am still afraid to take my son to a lot of places because of his compromised immune system. It is very easy for him to contract viruses. How was the other boy able to travel? It is difficult for us to travel because my son cannot eat anything outside of the home. please fill me in on what I missed during the segment. Thank you!

This is a question for next week’s Today’s show panel of women professionals. I had a great career in the public sector until I was recruited by a man for the position as his Executive Assistant. I refused to comply with a request to falsify a document, was summarily transferred and demoted to a department with a terrible reputation as being the HR landfill. Prior to this I had outstanding evaluations was on a specific career track.
I fell into depression..and subsequently relapsed after being clean and sober for more than 10 years. I was arrested, tested, fired and spent the last year in serious rehab and therapy getting back on track. I enrolled full time in university to keep myself learning, mentally active and to help change careers.
I have however become afraid to search for another job as I know my background will be an issue. I have been living on my pension. How do I find the courage to go forward. I have had some wonderful moments in the work world and I contributed a lot to society before my fall. I am now one year clean, sober and would like to start fresh. How do I begin? I am in my fifties, a minority and no Lindsey Lohan or Paris Hilton. Where do I start to regain my sense of self worth and confidence to interview?

I missed the show where you talked about the like of Dental care and wondering why people are not geting it, but my daughter saw it and ask me to please email you. Well let me tell you a little story that will get your atttention about the reason why not for me and many others like me. I am on disability because the ventricles which are the heart valves in my heart are very damaged, so damaged that I need to have them replaced but due to other health factors I have decided to wait as long as I can to do this. Now my Cardiologist and my regular Doctor have both told me that if I get a tooth infection I could die from it so it is imperative that I do this immediently. Well all I have for insurance is good old Medicare who refuses to pay for it. I have explained to them the severity of the situation but still they refuse, and I can not do it on my income and pay my routine bills and live. My teeth are badly damaged and I stay on antibiotics to try to prevent an infection. But recently I have had a problem with a blood clot and thought I was going to die, had to be hospitalized for shots of Blood thinner even though I take it orally everyday. The reason for the clot was something in my blood is swelled up causing it to be thicker and the doctor believes it is coming from an inflamation in my gums which I have a lot. I have this inflamation and it want leave because I can’t take steroids. So the reasonable thing to do would be to get the teeth fixed, but medicare had rather I die than pay for it. And yes I have contacted my Senator by phone and email and thus far no response. No one cares if people like me die and there is many more with this same problem. They had rather let us die and save the money we cost the Government. They don’t realize when we worked we paid for these services. And if your vision is getting severly bad well they will pay for a cane I am sure to help you get around with but you can forget the vision care. They rather you go blind than pay for it. Something needs to be done about this. I could die any minute because of this problem and it is throught he grace of God I am still alive. Please if you can help save our life do it. watched the show when you were discussing arthritis and the foods and meds etc. for arthritis. When I went to this website, Oct. 12, 2007 and so I waiting until today and I did not find any info on this subject. My husband suffered from severe arthritis and it affects him everyday of his life. No medication prescribed for him has helped much so I was hoping you could send me the information talked about on your show. I watch it every weekday morning before I go to work. All of you are very entertaining and don’t just talk about all the bad things going on in the tri-state area, etc. I learn a lot listening to you as I get ready for work.
Thanking you in advance
Thank you,

Please send me information on Oct. 11th show concerning “arthritis” and the OTC drugs or Rx’s, and food that is good to eat. I looked on the Internet at your site the day of the program and it was not posted yet. Today when I looked, it started with the Oct. 12 show. My husband has severe arthritis and he has gone to several doctors over the years with little help. He is on the strongest Arthritis med right now and it does help some. But is in constant pain, that is sometimes so severe he can’t do his job well (factory work) and when he comes home his joints are so painful that he doesn’t feel like doing much of anything. He has almost given up any hope and finding anything that will help him. I do remember some of the food items you mentioned and one OTC med he could try but tht is all. Please respond ASAP because he is in a lot of pain. He does take a couple of the OTC products such as Glucosamine Chondritin and Fish Oil but he doesn’t take them like he should because he does not think anything will help him. I told him about the walnuts and the Hazel Nuts (which I have not found at the store as yet, but I will continue looking until I do find them. He also take Vit C everyday. He stated to me that he remembered someone talking about walnuts for arthritis so I have gotten some of them.
I really do enjoy listening and watching your show as I get ready for work in the morning. It’s not watching regular news that I do not watch because it is so negative and only talks about the bad stuff going on the world around us and it is depressing. Thank all of you for making me laugh every morning and you are so very entertaining. Never a dull moment.
Thanking you in advance.

I am really curious about the boy who has many allergies my son will be 2 october 25th and we are trying to get to the bottom of his illnesses. Right now doctors are trying to decide whether to take him off all food he already can’t eat anything with milk, eggs, fish, shell fish, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat or luguens. it’s a really hard diet to follow. I am not even supposed to take my son out into public places because of his immune system. I would really love to see more information on this subject.
Thank you a desperate mom

I’m interested in the info on arthritis and am only able to find segments for October 12. I’ve had rheumatoid arthritis for years and choose not to take Rx because of the cost and side effects. My belief is that some of the pain can be minimized by supplements and food. Your daily show has been part of my morning since I was a little kid - thanks for for the quality of work you do. What a great way to begin my day as I get ready for work.

mereidith,
I watched your show on tax cheaters, here’s the scoop in this area of the country. If any one including the IRS is looking for tax cheaters they should visit the Salinas, watsonville, catroville monterey, marina, Ca. area. Where there is a large poputation of hispanic culture, everyone claims they have at least 5 to six children, there are no questions asked, on thier taxes. The truth is they only really have one or two, some have none but they claim they have many kids and no one ever checks, it is commonly excepted, and if you need proof just get a fake I D from someone on a street corner around here . Thye are a dime a dozen. People recieve fake Social security numbers and I.D.s and use their nieces and newphews names, no one ever checks up, so no one gets in trouble. That’s what I call ripping off America.
