    Palease!!!! Pamela Anderson before 9:00 a.m. Did you have to wipe the drool off of Matts chin? Must we always be lowered to the lowest common denominator? I’m changing the channel.

    I watched the interview Matt Lauer did with Princes William and Harry on Monday night. I am extremely impressed by the genuineness of the Royal brothers and thoroughly enjoyed watching them interacting with one another. For having lost their mother in such a tragic way and living under the “normal” pressure of royalty, they have turned into exceptional young men. They seemed so down-to-earth and honest with Mr. Lauer; I am glad the American people were able to get a glimpse of who the princes really are, rather than forming an opinion through the gossip of tabloids.

    FOR MATT LAUER: You are a star, utterly professional at your job and a real pleasure to watch/listen to. That said, in regard to the Princes William and Harry, you got it wrong.
    As the only American-born member of my British family, I have read long and extensively and know from fisrt person sources in the UK that the single greatest influence in the lives of these two charming young men is NOT Diana’s memory, but rather their father, Charles, their Grandmother, HM Queen Elizabeth II, and the whole of the Windsor (Mountbatten) family. Your presentation erroneously slanted the picture such that viewers not as familiar as I am, and many others are, with the true situation of the boys’ aculturation came away thinking the Princes are what they are because of Diana. Not true. Certainly their early years were influenced by her; certainly they continue to be influenced by her reputation and public persona. But day by day, year by year, it has been Charles, the Queen, Prince Phillip and others of the family which have truly shaped the values and tastes of William and Harry. Your presentation almost completely eclipsed this fact. Only the merest mention of was made of HM and Charles. The Princes have almost no relationship with the Spencer family, and contrary to their uncle’s (Earl Spencer) strident words at Diana’s funeral with reference to the Princes’ “blood family”, in fact it has really been the Windsors who have proved over the long term to be their real blood family. William and Harry have far more connection to, respect and love for their Windsor side than the Spencer side. You’ve only to make the slightest accurate investigation to confirm my statements. Read Robert Lacey’s books. Their reverance to duty and history, responsibility and honor have been honed and inspired by the Queen herself, above all. Her own respect and caring for the office she holds has been their greatest teacher. When you asked the Princes if they ever ’sat down and had a talk’ about their historic role (paraphrase on my part), they laughed briefly. They laughed because virtually every moment of their entire daily lives has been infused - by the Queen’s example and her unceasing respect for the monarchy - by respect for monarchy and its responsibility. There was no one time “talk” - there has been instead - a kind of total emersion. From blood sports to royal tradition, they are Windsors. This they did not get from Diana. Still, I enjoyed your interview and had my children watch - but your presentation unfairly ignored the righful signficance the Windsors influence on the Princes has truly had.
